monade contemporary | 単子現代では、村山修二郎 / Martina Kändler による展覧会「空の彩り l coloring sky」を開催します。
村山は、生の植物を紙や壁に素手で擦りつけて描く緑画（りょくが）や植物の色そのものをデジタル写真によって抽出することで、植物そのものが内包する色彩とともに世界を生き生きと描き出します。光、空間、大気の関係性に目を向けるKändlerは、パフォーマンス、映像、写真、彫刻的アプローチを組み合わせ、地理的な変容や社会、政治、自然の複雑な相互作用を探究し、空間における運動や対象が変容するダイナミクスを考察します。
本展では、植物と空の色彩の移り変わりを対照させながら、気候変動のなかでそのあり方を変える植生と目には見えない大気のかかわりを探ります。植物の花弁や葉は太陽の光や大地の熱、空気中の水分に応じてさまざまな色合いを見せ、交配を繰り返すうちに異なる質感を示します。大気圏に広がる空は、光と分子、水蒸気、熱や風が、太陽と大地の間で起こる相互作用のなかでその時々に異なる色調を映し出すことになります。
宇宙の闇に浮かぶ地球に太陽の光があたるとき、植物と空の色彩はどのような抽象写真を現象させることになるのでしょうか。移り変わる自然と空から抽出される、色彩のゆらぎにご参加ください。

村山修二郎
東京生まれ。東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科 博士後期課程美術専攻壁画修了 博士（美術）。植物に内在する初源的な力を抽出した作品制作、 社会地域活動、ワークショップなどを様々な地域で行っている。特に、植物（花・葉 ・実）を手で直接紙や壁に擦り付けて描く「緑画（りょくが/村山の造語）」手法を考案し、唯一無二の絵画技法として形式化し、表現している。（秋田公立美術大学准教授 2018年4月～）

Martina Kändler（マルティナ・ケンドラー）
ミュンヘン在住。ニュルンベルク美術アカデミー卒業、アウグスブルク大学美術教育・美術史・心理学修士課程修了。光・空間・大気などを装置として、地理的な変容や社会・政治・自然の複雑な相互作用を芸術作品において探究している。パフォーマンス、映像、写真、彫刻的アプローチを組み合わせ、空間における運動や対象の変容のダイナミクスを考察し、そのプロセスが及ぼす環境への影響や大気の知覚に対する変化に関心を寄せている。

Shujiro Murayama / Martina Kändler Exhibition

monade contemporary | 単子現代 is pleased to present coloring sky, an exhibition by Shujiro Murayama and Martina Kändler.
Murayama creates ryokuga (literally “green paintings”) by rubbing fresh plants directly onto paper or walls with his bare hands, and extracts the very colors of plants by digital photography. Through these practices, he vividly depicts the world together with the chromatic vitality inherent in the plants themselves. Turning her attention to the interrelation of light, space, and atmosphere, Kändler combines performative, video, photographic, and sculptural approaches. She explores geographical transformations as well as the complex interactions between society, politics, and nature, and examines the dynamics by which movement and objects transform within space.
This exhibition sets in contrast the shifting colors of plants and of the sky, tracing the interrelations between vegetation—whose forms change under climate change—and the invisible atmosphere. Petals and leaves display diverse hues in response to sunlight, the heat of the earth, and moisture in the air, developing new textures through repeated processes of pollination. The sky that spreads across the atmosphere reflects ever-changing tonalities, arising from the interactions of light with molecules, vapor, heat, and wind between the sun and the ground.
When the sun casts its light upon the earth, floating in the darkness of the cosmos, what kind of abstract photographs will the colors of plants and of the sky bring into being? Please participate in the fluctuations of color, drawn from the transformations of nature and the sky.

Shujiro Murayama
Born in Tokyo. Completion of Mural painting at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts (Doctor, Art). The artist has been creating artworks, organizing social and community activities, and conducting workshops in various areas. (Associate Professor, Akita Public Arts College from April 2018 to the present)

Martina Kändler
Based in Munich. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, and completed a master’s program in Art Education, Art History, and Psychology at the University of Augsburg. Within dispositions of light, space, and atmosphere, the artist explores in her artistic work geographical transformations and the complex interactions between society, politics, and nature.
